Wellbeing for Work Service

A new Wellbeing for Work Service has been set up to support people with health and wellbeing issues on a journey towards work, training or volunteering.

The service is part of the Belfast Works LEMIS+ employment programme, which aims to help people across Belfast fulfil their potential and overcome barriers to working.

Through the programme, partly funded through the Northern Ireland European Social Fund Programme and the Department for the Economic, participants explore key areas of their life and health, building on their strengths and getting support to move forward with a more positive attitude and behaviour.

The service has been rolled out across Belfast with coaches based out of the Ashton Centre in North Belfast, East Belfast Mission on the Newtownards Road, GEMS NI covering South Belfast, Greater Shankill Job Assist Centre and West Belfast Job Assist Centre on the Springfield Road.

We want to reach people who feel that they can’t work and maybe even feel like they will never be able to work. We hope to support these people to identify their own personal strengths and values and realise all of the things that they can do, as opposed to what their health issues prevent them from doing.

For this to work, we’d like professionals who work with people with health problems to encourage them to think about their future and how they could improve it by engaging with the LEMIS+ Wellbeing for Work Service.”

“Our wellbeing service provides a link between health and social care provision in the local community and the more traditional employability and training services”
